Male' City, Maldives – A Bangladeshi expatriate worker, Arafath Hossein, 32, has been arrested in the Maldives on accusations of killing cats and using their meat to make short eats. Arafath was reportedly running an illegal short eats business in the capital, Male'.

He was arrested by police at a salon, where he was allegedly attempting to alter his appearance to evade detection. Maldives Immigration has also confirmed that Arafath is among thousands of illegal expatriate workers currently residing in the Maldives.

The case is under active investigation by both the Maldives Police Service and Maldives Immigration. Authorities are looking into the full extent of the illegal operation and its implications for public health and safety.
