Three Maldivians involved in a gang fight that took place on 4th September 2024 in Malé City and subsequently fled to Thailand have been deported back to the Maldives. The individuals are 28-year-old Aswan Mohamed from Mukurimagu, L. Gan, 26-year-old Mohamed Ahsan from H. Dhonthundi, Malé, and 19-year-old Mohamed Sibth Abdulla from M. Maskothange, Malé.

Maldives Police had issued an Interpol red notice to track them down, leading to their arrest by Thai authorities last week. The trio was deported on 18th September 2024 and immediately taken into custody by Maldives Police upon arrival at Velana International Airport.

The suspects were presented to court on 19th September, where remand was ordered for Mohamed Ahsan and Mohamed Sibth Abdulla, while Aswan Mohamed was released. The investigation is ongoing as police continue to examine the details of the case.
