STELCO Signs Landmark MoU with TBEA Group to Boost Maldives’ Energy Infrastructure

STELCO, the Maldives' State Electric Company, has taken a significant step toward enhancing the nation's energy infrastructure with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TBEA Group Co., Ltd., a major Chinese energy company. The agreement was announced by STELCO’s Managing Director in a post on X, highlighting the partnership's key components.

The collaboration will see the development of a high-capacity transmission line connecting Malé, Villigili, Gulhifalhu, and Thilafushi, which will create a more robust and efficient energy network to meet the growing demand in these regions. Additionally, the partnership will result in the construction of a 150MW dual-fuel power plant, significantly boosting the country’s power generation capacity and ensuring a stable energy supply.

This project aligns with STELCO’s commitment to sustainability, introducing innovative solutions to meet the Maldives' energy needs while addressing future challenges. The company also expressed its gratitude to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, crediting his visionary leadership for making this initiative possible.

The MoU with TBEA Group marks a major step toward the development of the Maldives' energy infrastructure, contributing to the country’s long-term sustainability goals and energy security.
