Two Arrested for Attempted Drug Smuggling in Veymandoo and Dhaandhoo

Police have arrested two individuals in connection with separate attempts to smuggle drugs between islands in the Maldives earlier this week.
In the first incident, Ahmed Shahudhan, 30, was apprehended on December 4 in Th. Veymandoo during an operation conducted by Veymandoo Police. He was allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs from Veymandoo to Hirilandhoo Island. Following his arrest, the Veymandoo Magistrate Court ordered a five-day remand as investigations continue.
In a separate operation on December 6, Jailam Abdulla, 30, was arrested in Dhaandhoo Island. Police allege he was smuggling drugs from Nilandhoo to Dhaandhoo. The operation, carried out jointly by Nilandhoo and Dhaandhoo Police, resulted in the recovery of drugs. The Dhaandhoo Magistrate Court subsequently ordered a 15-day remand for Jailam.
Both cases are under investigation as police work to address drug-related crimes in the region. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to curbing drug trafficking and ensuring public safety.
