Maldives Police have arrested two Sri Lankan nationals in a drug operation conducted in Male’ based on intelligence reports. The raid, carried out on December 5, led to the confiscation of over 116 bottles of liquor from a residence in the capital city.

The suspects, identified as 27-year-old Patti Vitanalagay Vishomaa Vithanegay and 21-year-old Nurukushan Kavindhaa Singapuragay, were taken into custody during the operation. Both individuals have been handed over to Maldives Immigration for immediate deportation as police continue their investigation into the case.

The sale and use of alcohol are strictly prohibited on inhabited islands in the Maldives under local laws. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to enforcing these laws to maintain public order.
