India has extended a grant of MVR 8.5 million for the restoration and maintenance of the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement (NCPLE) in Addu City. The college, established by India in 2020, serves as a key institution for training law enforcement officers in the Maldives.
The announcement was made during the passing-out parade of the 37th Police Initial Training Course held at the NCPLE. Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan expressed gratitude to India for the generous support and highlighted the importance of the grant in ensuring the continued functionality of the institution.
The event was attended by Amit Garg, the Director of India’s National Police Academy, underscoring the close collaboration between the Maldives and India in enhancing law enforcement capabilities.
A total of 171 officers successfully completed six months of rigorous training as part of the course. Among them, Police Constable Hassan Shaamil stood out as the recipient of the prestigious Commissioner’s Excellence Award and the Best All-Round Student of the Batch.
The NCPLE plays a vital role in strengthening the Maldives Police Service, with continued support from India contributing significantly to the institution’s development.
