Police Raid Illegal Alcohol Facility in Hulhumale’; Three Bangladeshi Men Arrested

Hulhumale’, Maldives – Maldives Police Service raided an illegal alcohol production facility in Hulhumale’ on December 26, 2024, leading to the arrest of three Bangladeshi nationals.
The suspects have been identified as Mohamed Shaja Laal (33), MD Ahannaan (51), and Thuhinn Mia (34). Police reported that MD Ahanaan was apprehended after officers followed him and observed him attempting to conceal a box containing 500ml bottles of alcohol. Ahanaan resisted arrest and tried to escape before being detained.
During the raid, the other two suspects, Shaja Laal and Thuhinn Mia, were found at the facility and also resisted arrest while attempting to flee.
The police discovered utensils and equipment used to produce alcohol at the site, along with several bottles of the illegal substance.
The court has ordered a 10-day remand for the three individuals as the investigation continues.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on illegal activities and urged the public to report suspicious behavior to help maintain safety and order.
