Malé, Maldives – The Maldives is witnessing a significant rise in private jet arrivals as millionaires and billionaires from around the globe head to the island nation to celebrate the New Year holidays.

Velana International Airport (VIA) and various domestic airports across the country are bustling with private jets, reflecting the peak tourism season. Travelers escaping the winter in their home countries are drawn to the Maldives for its tropical charm while enjoying festive celebrations.

According to Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), daily jet movements have surpassed 148, marking an 8% increase compared to last year. By December 2023, a total of 137 jet movements had been recorded, an increase of 11 over the same period last year. To accommodate this demand, VIA has allocated three areas for jet parking and ramp services.

The increase in jet arrivals coincides with the Maldives achieving a major tourism milestone, welcoming its two-millionth tourist last Thursday. The nation continues to see a rise in visitors as the year draws to a close, further cementing its reputation as a top luxury holiday destination.

Airport operations remain busy as MACL ensures smooth services for both private and commercial flights during this festive season.
