In a joint operation by Maldives Immigration and Maldives Police Service targeting suspected prostitution networks, seven foreign nationals have been detained. The group includes four Bangladeshi nationals (one woman and three men), two Russian women, and one Ugandan woman.
Authorities have confirmed that two individuals—a Russian woman and the Ugandan woman—have already been deported. Deportation processes for the remaining five individuals are ongoing.
This operation is part of a broader crackdown on illegal activities involving foreign nationals. Maldives Immigration revealed that over 6,000 foreigners have been deported in the past 12 months for various offenses. These include visa violations, operating illegal businesses, working without proper documentation, and involvement in prostitution rings.
Maldives Immigration reiterated its commitment to ensuring compliance with immigration laws and safeguarding the country's integrity through continued enforcement actions.
