The President returns to Male' after his official trip to Estonia

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu returned to Malé after completing a historic official visit to Estonia, the first by a Maldivian President. The visit, made at the invitation of Estonian President Dr. Alar Karis, aimed to strengthen bilateral ties and explore opportunities for collaboration in digital transformation, climate resilience, and other key areas.

The visit began with an official welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Kadriorg, where the two Presidents inspected a Guard of Honour and held discussions on enhancing relations. President Muizzu also met with senior Estonian leaders, including the President of Parliament, ministers, and the Mayor of Tartu, as well as academics and institutional heads, fostering dialogues on mutually beneficial initiatives.

Three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the trip:

1. Cooperation in climate change, environment, and energy.

2. Political consultations between the two nations' foreign ministries.

3. Collaboration in homeland security and digital affairs.

President Muizzu toured several prominent Estonian institutions, including the e-Estonia Briefing Centre, Greenergy Data Centers, the Estonian Biobank, and the Estonian National Museum. These visits offered insights into Estonia's advancements in technology, data management, and cultural preservation.

The trip marked a significant step towards President Muizzu’s vision for the Maldives' digital transformation and sustainable development. It also reinforced partnerships for addressing global challenges such as climate change.

This visit underscored the Maldives' commitment to forging international partnerships that drive progress and innovation, aligning with President Muizzu’s priorities for the nation.
