Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended his congratulations to President Donald J. Trump on his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States.
In a letter to President Trump, President Muizzu underscored the Maldives' commitment to strengthening its diplomatic ties with the U.S., emphasizing shared goals of ensuring regional peace and prosperity. He expressed his eagerness to collaborate with the Trump administration to foster a more secure and stable global environment.
President Muizzu highlighted the milestone of 60 years of formal diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the U.S., noting that this partnership is built on shared values such as the rule of law, democratic principles, and human rights. He also emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in trade, economic development, defence, and security.
The President concluded his letter by wishing President Trump a successful tenure and posting a message of congratulations on his official 'X' account.
Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef also congratulated Vice President James David Vance on his inauguration as the 50th Vice President of the United States. In his letter, the Vice President commended the trust placed in the Trump administration by the American people and expressed readiness to work together on shared global challenges.
Vice President Latheef emphasized the strategic cooperation between the Maldives and the U.S. in economic development, trade, investment, and defence, reaffirming the Maldives' commitment to strengthening ties. He also shared his congratulations on his official 'X' account.
The Maldivian leadership has reiterated its dedication to fostering bilateral cooperation with the U.S. in addressing global challenges and advancing mutual interests.
