Maldives Immigration, in collaboration with Maldives Police Service, apprehended three Indian nationals on Tuesday for engaging in unauthorized astrological practices. The individuals, identified as 18-year-old Dhananjay, 39-year-old Nagaraja, and 25-year-old Shreehari, were reportedly involved in promoting astrology, a practice prohibited in the Maldives due to its conflict with Islamic beliefs and teachings.

Authorities confirmed that the trio had violated the conditions of their visas and are now preparing for their deportation. Maldives, a Sunni Islamic nation, has stringent regulations against activities deemed contrary to Islamic principles, including astrological practices.

Additionally, the country has maintained a firm stance on visa violations by foreign nationals. Over the past 12 months, more than 6,000 foreigners have been deported for infractions such as engaging in illegal businesses, prostitution, and working without proper documentation.

Maldives Immigration reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the nation’s laws and values, ensuring that all foreigners abide by visa regulations during their stay in the country.
