The Maldives Shooting Team has returned home to a warm welcome after competing in the Asian Rifle/Pistol Cup 2025, held in Bangkok, Thailand. The highlight of the tournament was 15-year-old Mariyam Eeshal Misbah, who made history by winning a silver medal in the Air Pistol Women’s Junior event, marking the first-ever international medal for Maldives in shooting sports.

Eeshal, a student at Majeedhiya School, showcased exceptional skill and determination throughout the competition. She competed against shooters from 21 countries before securing her spot in the final, where she was narrowly defeated by Chinese Taipei's Liao Ke-rong. In the lead-up to the final, Eeshal also set a new national record, further solidifying her status as a rising star in Maldivian sports.

The Asian Rifle/Pistol Cup 2025 featured participants from 23 nations, making Eeshal’s achievement even more significant. Her silver medal marks a historic milestone as the first time a Maldivian athlete has won a medal in a major international Asian sporting event.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu extended his heartfelt congratulations to Eeshal for her outstanding performance, recognizing her achievement as a proud moment for the nation.
