The Maldives' Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that Ramadan will begin on Saturday, March 1, 2025, based on astronomical assessments indicating a high probability of moon sighting.

Ramadan is a sacred month of fasting, prayer, and self-reflection, marking the revelation of the Holy Quran. Muslims fast daily from dawn to sunset, abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs, focusing instead on spiritual growth. Increased prayer, charity, and Quran recitation are encouraged throughout the month.

Fasting not only strengthens self-discipline but also offers health benefits, including improved metabolism, detoxification, and better blood sugar control. The month serves as a time of spiritual renewal and devotion for the Muslim community.
