Twin brothers arrested in Hulhumalé drug raid

Hulhumalé, Maldives – 18 April 2025

Twin brothers have been arrested in Hulhumalé in connection with a drug-related case, the Maldives Police Service has confirmed.

The suspects – 28-year-old Raaif Yoosuf and Raaig Yoosuf – were taken into custody during a court-authorised search of an apartment in Hulhumalé. The operation was based on a tip-off and carried out jointly by the Counter Narcotics Intelligence Unit, Hulhumalé Special Enforcement Team, and Phase 1 Investigation.

According to police, several items believed to be linked to drug use and distribution were recovered during the search. These include multiple packets suspected to contain illegal drugs, a weed grinder, vapes and flavour bottles, a cutter, and a knife.

All items have been seized as evidence, and authorities say the investigation is ongoing.

Police have not disclosed the quantity or type of drugs found, nor whether the two suspects have a prior criminal record.
