President Muizzu Awarded Honorary Doctorate by IIUM in Recognition of Islamic Leadership

Kuala Lumpur – President Dr Mohamed Muizzu was conferred an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Islamic Leadership and Madani Development by the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) during a special convocation ceremony held on Tuesday.
The honorary doctorate was presented by Her Royal Highness Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, the Constitutional Head of IIUM, at the university’s main campus. President Dr Muizzu was welcomed by Her Royal Highness upon arrival, after which he signed the Visitors’ Book before attending the ceremony.
The event began with a grand procession and the playing of national anthems of both the Maldives and Malaysia. Her Royal Highness then officially opened the convocation.
A detailed Laureation Address was delivered by Prof. Emeritus Datuk Dr Osman Bakar, Rector of IIUM, who outlined the President’s contributions to Islamic leadership and national development. Following the conferral, President Dr Muizzu delivered his acceptance speech and a public lecture titled "The Intellectual Renaissance: Unveiling the Scientific and Modern Developments of Islamic Civilization."
The ceremony was attended by Cabinet Ministers and senior officials from the Maldives, underscoring the significance of the honour in recognising the President’s leadership in promoting Islamic values and development on the international stage.
