Dubai – The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has signed two major strategic partnerships at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025, renewing and expanding its ties with global airline giants Emirates and Qatar Airways to boost tourism to the Maldives.

On April 28, MMPRC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emirates Airline, reinforcing a long-standing relationship that dates back to 1987. The agreement, signed in the presence of Tourism and Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim, will focus on joint marketing campaigns, tailored travel packages, and familiarisation trips to promote the Maldives across Emirates’ vast global network. Emirates, the top international carrier to the Maldives, flew around 360,000 passengers to the islands last year and operates 28 weekly flights.

On the same day, MMPRC signed another landmark MoU with Qatar Airways. The partnership aims to tap into Qatar Airways’ network of over 170 global destinations, leveraging joint marketing, media engagement, and trade education initiatives. The Doha-based airline, which already operates multiple daily flights to Malé, is also linked with domestic carrier Maldivian, providing access to 17 islands across the Maldives.

MMPRC CEO & MD Ibrahim Shiuree said both partnerships reflect a broader strategy to position the Maldives as a premium, well-connected destination for global travellers. The agreements are expected to expand reach in key luxury and MICE travel markets and drive further growth in international arrivals.

These new collaborations mark a pivotal step in sustaining the Maldives’ strong recovery and growth trajectory in global tourism.
