For the first time, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has brought a Maldivian artist to the international spotlight at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) — one of the world's largest travel and tourism fairs.

Renowned local artist Ali Ishaan, widely known as Kurahaa Raappe, represented the Maldives at ATM 2025, held in Dubai from April 28 to May 1. Raappe’s live drawing performance at the Maldives stand was a major attraction, captivating visitors with his unique 1990s-style artwork that portrayed the natural beauty and vibrant culture of the Maldives.

Speaking to Sukun English, Raappe said the opportunity to perform live in such a global setting was a powerful moment — not just for him, but for local talent across the Maldives. "This is just the beginning," he said. "Opportunities like this can open doors for young and creative Maldivians."

MMPRC Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree said this marks the start of a new direction where the tourism board will work to connect local creativity with the global tourism stage. The goal is to promote not just the islands, but the people and talents that make the Maldives truly unique.

Raappe, who works closely with various resorts and runs his own creative studio in Malé, hopes more artists will be included in future tourism promotions — turning talent into a vital part of the Maldives' tourism story.
