Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has launched direct flights between Hanimaadhoo International Airport and Bangalore, India, marking a significant milestone in enhancing regional connectivity and supporting the development of the northern Maldives.

The new service, operating twice weekly on Sundays and Thursdays, provides a seamless travel option for residents of the northern atolls. By eliminating the need for domestic transfers through Malé, the route significantly reduces travel time for passengers seeking healthcare, education, or business opportunities in Bangalore – one of the most popular destinations for Maldivian travellers.

The route is also expected to benefit inbound tourism. Indian travellers now have direct access to the northern Maldives, a region celebrated for its untouched natural beauty, rich culture, and historical significance. The direct connection offers a convenient gateway for visitors seeking more authentic island experiences away from traditional resort hubs.

Maldivian expressed appreciation to all passengers who joined the inaugural flights and thanked partners who supported the launch. The airline noted that it will continue to monitor demand and connectivity requirements as part of its commitment to strengthening its network responsibly and sustainably.
