Miss Thailand, Suchata “Opal” Chuangsri, was crowned Miss World 2025 on Saturday night, marking a landmark moment for Thailand on the global pageantry stage. The 72nd Miss World coronation took place at the HITEX Convention Centre in Hyderabad, India, in a dazzling ceremony watched by millions worldwide.
Suchata, 21, received the crown from outgoing titleholder Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic, becoming the first Thai winner of the prestigious international title in years. Her victory was met with widespread celebration in Thailand and among pageant fans globally.
Joining her on the podium were first runner-up Hasset Dereje Admassu of Ethiopia, second runner-up Maja Klajda of Poland, and third runner-up Aurelie Joachim of Martinique.
Raised in Phuket in a family involved in the hospitality industry, Suchata represents a new generation of Thai beauty queens. Unlike many of her predecessors, she does not have mixed heritage, yet she is internationally fluent, having attended international schools from a young age. She speaks English and Chinese, having specialised in the latter at Triam Udom Suksa School in Bangkok.
Currently pursuing a degree in International Relations at Thammasat University’s Faculty of Political Science, Suchata has her sights set on a diplomatic career. Her academic background and global outlook make her a natural fit for her new role as a cultural and goodwill ambassador for Thailand.
Her win not only highlights Thailand's presence in international beauty contests but also reflects a shift toward a more inclusive and academically accomplished image of global beauty queens.
