Maldives Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the brutal murder of Abdul Rahman Adam, 62, in Alif Alif Maalhos last month.

The suspects have been identified as Mohamed Visham, a government-appointed youth associate at the Maalhos Youth Centre, along with Ahmed Faris and Ahmed Aashid. All three are residents of Maalhos.

Police said Visham was arrested in the early hours of Thursday night. Aashid was also arrested in Maalhos, while Faris was taken into custody from Malé.

The motive behind the killing remains unclear. However, police previously confirmed that on August 10, they had seized mobile phones from five individuals and clothing from one person — including items belonging to the suspects now under arrest.

Abdul Rahman was found dead in his home in Maalhos on July 13 with severe head injuries, in what police described as a brutal attack.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.
