Malé – Mr. Maldives 2024 titleholder, Nahyaan Khan, has been suspended ahead of the Mr. Maldives Bodybuilding Championship 2025, scheduled for early next month.
Nahyaan, a half-Indian bodybuilder who won the national title last year, will also lose his cash prize of MVR 50,000, sources confirmed. The Bodybuilding Association of Maldives (BBAM) reportedly took action after finding that he failed to participate in the 15th South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship, held in Thimphu, Bhutan, from June 11–15, 2025.
According to sources, Nahyaan misled the association about his participation. However, the athlete denies wrongdoing. Speaking to Sukun English, he said he missed the regional event due to a medical condition and a family medical emergency.
“I have not been officially informed of my suspension yet, but I believe the association will eventually suspend me,” Nahyaan said.
He added that BBAM has not allowed him to register for the upcoming national competition.
The reigning champion also said he has formally requested BBAM to release last year’s prize money but has not received a response.
Efforts to reach BBAM President and other officials for comment were unsuccessful at the time of publishing.
