TV Presenter Among Four Arrested Over Drug Use and Exploitation of Minors

Malé, Maldives – Police have arrested local TV presenter Naifu Rasheed along with three others in connection with a case involving drug use and the alleged exploitation of minors.
According to the Maldives Police Service, the arrests were made during a raid on a house in Malé City in the early hours of 6 October. The suspects have been identified as Naifu Rasheed, Ali Ashraf (35), Luhan Saeed (41), and Ibrahim Shinan Ahmed (33).
Police said drugs were found in the apartment during the operation, and all four suspects tested positive for drug use. The statement further noted that the individuals are suspected of exploiting minors, including two 17-year-old girls and two 16-year-old boys.
Naifu Rasheed is known locally as a TV presenter who has worked with several media outlets and has hosted numerous public events.
The Criminal Court has remanded the suspects in police custody for three days as investigations continue.
Police said the case is being investigated as a serious criminal offence involving both narcotics and the exploitation of minors.
