Popular Maldivian band 2ofus has suffered another major setback, with its lead guitarist Shahyd announcing his exit just months after the departure of one of the group’s founding members.

In a public exit statement, Shahyd said his decision to leave was driven by what he described as a lack of collaboration within the band, characterising the project as having become “a one-man show rather than a collaborative band effort.”

Shahyd also raised concerns about financial transparency and inconsistent payment practices, stating that these issues created an “unsustainable environment” for him to continue. Reflecting on the band’s early days, he said the project began as something “genuinely positive and full of promise,” but later turned into what he described as “a bitter journey marked by ongoing negativity.”

His departure follows the earlier exit of lead vocalist Ahmed Nasooh, one of the founding members of 2ofus. While Nasooh did not publicly state the reasons for leaving the band at the time, it has since been reported that his departure was linked to similar concerns.

The exits mark a significant moment for 2ofus, which rose to national prominence after competing in the Battle of the Bands International competition in India, where the group secured the runner-up position. The achievement earned the band widespread recognition and a strong following in the Maldives.
