State Minister for Homeland Security Abdul Majeed Ibrahim has been dismissed from his post, the Home Ministry has confirmed.

Speaking to local media, a spokesperson from the Home Ministry said Abdul Majeed was removed from office on Thursday, but declined to provide further details regarding the decision.

Abdul Majeed was overseeing the Foreign Labour Department and the Department of National Registration (DNR) under the Home Ministry.

His dismissal comes amid allegations of corruption related to foreign labour quotas. Some local media outlets have suggested that these allegations may have contributed to his removal. However, the claims could not be independently verified, and Abdul Majeed was not available for comment at the time of publication.

Abdul Majeed came under public scrutiny early last year after holding a press conference to deny allegations that the DNR database had been used to fill ruling party membership forms without the consent of individuals. The press conference ended abruptly after reporters pressed him with a series of pointed questions, drawing significant public attention.

The Home Ministry has yet to announce who will assume Abdul Majeed’s responsibilities following his dismissal.
