Malé City – Maldives Immigration has deported two Nepali women who were operating illegal and unregistered beauty salons in the capital. The individuals, identified as Rajani Shrestha, 30, and Shushmita Dhaugoda, 28, were running separate salons employing a total of four expatriate staff, all without proper registration or work authorization.

The two women had been staying in the Maldives on expired labor visas. Their businesses were discovered during a recent crackdown by Maldives Immigration, in collaboration with the Maldives Police Service. Both women have since been deported back to Nepal.

Authorities have ramped up efforts to crack down on illegal and unregistered businesses run by expatriate workers in Malé and across the country. Maldives Immigration has called on the public to report any illegal or unregistered activities through their online portal as part of the ongoing enforcement of immigration laws.
