President His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Muizzu delivered a powerful address at the United Nations Summit of the Future, calling for an immediate end to the genocidal war in Gaza and demanding full membership for the State of Palestine at the UN. Speaking at the Plenary Segment in the General Assembly Hall in New York, President Muizzu emphasized the urgent need for the international community to hold perpetrators of human rights violations accountable.

He also proposed three critical measures to improve the multilateral system. These included empowering young people by engaging them in policy-making, combating climate change, and securing reliable development and climate finance. Stressing the need for action over rhetoric, he highlighted the profound impact climate anxiety has on youth and reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to addressing global challenges.

The President is in New York to participate in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
