President Muizzu Praises HC Munu Mahawar’s Role in Strengthening Maldives-India Ties

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu highlighted that Indian High Commissioner Munu Mahawar’s tenure coincided with a pivotal phase in Maldives-India relations, during which bilateral cooperation and friendship experienced significant revitalization. The remarks came during a farewell call at the President’s Office as High Commissioner Mahawar concluded his tenure.
Expressing his appreciation, President Muizzu acknowledged the High Commissioner’s efforts in enhancing ties between the two nations. He noted that this period marked renewed collaboration on shared challenges and highlighted key milestones, including his recent state visit to India in October. During that visit, both countries agreed on A Vision for Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership, laying the groundwork for advancing their development partnership.
The High Commissioner commended President Muizzu’s leadership and collaborative approach, which he credited for further strengthening Maldives-India ties. He reaffirmed India’s continued support for Maldives’ development efforts, emphasizing progress made through India’s commitments to economic reforms and social welfare initiatives.
The discussions also reflected confidence in maintaining the positive trajectory established during the High Commissioner’s tenure, with both sides committed to ensuring the timely completion of agreed initiatives and exploring new avenues of cooperation.
President Muizzu extended his best wishes to the outgoing High Commissioner for his future endeavors and expressed eagerness to further advance the partnership with his successor.
