Malé, Maldives — Maldives Immigration has announced the deportation of Amrit Singh, a 25-year-old Indian national, in connection with a violent altercation that occurred on December 6, 2024, at Artificial Beach in Malé City. The clash between two groups of Indian expatriates left several bystanders injured, including a child caught in the crossfire.

Authorities, with the assistance of the Maldives Police, arrested Amrit Singh, identified as the primary suspect in the incident. Immigration officials confirmed that the deportation process is now underway.

The altercation, which unfolded in a family-friendly area, has raised concerns among residents about inappropriate behavior by some expatriates. Public fights and heavy smoking in communal spaces have increasingly drawn criticism from locals who fear for the safety and well-being of their families in such areas.

Maldives Immigration has reiterated its commitment to addressing misconduct involving foreign nationals and ensuring public safety. Law enforcement agencies are reportedly stepping up efforts to monitor public spaces and curb disruptive behavior.

The deportation of Amrit Singh underscores the government's zero-tolerance approach to violence and its dedication to maintaining peace and security in the country. Authorities continue to investigate the broader circumstances surrounding the altercation.
