Maldives Celebrates Eid-ul-Fitr with Festivities Across the Nation

Malé, Maldives – The Maldives is celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today, Sunday, March 30, with grand festivities and religious observances across the country. The celebrations began with the Eid prayer, performed in large congregations in the capital city and various islands.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, along with his family, attended the Eid prayer in Malé, joining citizens in marking the auspicious occasion. Following the prayer, the President conveyed his Eid greetings to the people, emphasizing the significance of unity and gratitude during this blessed time.
To honor the occasion, more than 68 islands have been adorned with decorative lights, symbolizing the joy and spiritual blessings of Eid. These vibrant illuminations reflect the deep cultural and religious importance of the festival in Maldivian society.
As part of the celebrations, the President and First Lady extended their Eid greetings at the Presidential Palace, welcoming thousands of visitors, including children and the elderly, who came to exchange festive wishes with the First Couple.
Eid festivities are set to continue across the country for two days, featuring a range of cultural and entertainment events. Traditional dances, a mesmerizing drone show, and various musical performances are among the highlights of the celebrations. These activities aim to bring communities together in a joyful and festive spirit, reinforcing the rich traditions of the Maldives.
The government has encouraged all citizens to participate in the events and celebrate Eid in harmony, making this year’s festival a memorable and joyous occasion for everyone.
