Malé, Maldives – The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) marked its 133rd anniversary with a ceremonial military parade through the streets of the capital on Sunday evening, highlighting more than a century of national service.

The military parade, which began from Bandaara Koshi—the MNDF headquarters—featured a ceremonial march across various roads in Malé. Military personnel paused at five designated points along the route, where the MNDF band performed traditional songs. The parade served to showcase the diverse roles and contributions of the Armed Forces to the nation.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, presided over the event and inspected the troops near the President’s Office, where he was honoured with a Presidential salute. First Lady Madam Sajida Mohamed also attended the parade.

The event was part of a series of celebrations commemorating the founding of the country’s military on April 21, 1892—marking the beginning of formal defence service in the Maldives.

This year’s parade reaffirmed the MNDF’s longstanding commitment to safeguarding the nation and supporting communities across the country.
