President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has strongly condemned Israel’s attack on Qatar, calling it a violation of Qatari sovereignty and “a brazen assault on the dignity of the entire Arab and Islamic world.”

Speaking at the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha on Sunday, President Muizzu described the strike as a crime against humanity and a direct attack on peace itself. He noted that Qatar, a central mediator in efforts to resolve the Gaza crisis, deserves recognition rather than punishment. By striking Doha, he warned, Israel aims to undermine peace efforts and destabilize the region.

The President placed the attack within what he called a wider pattern of Israeli violations, including the occupation of Palestinian lands, denial of humanitarian access, and the targeting of civilians, doctors, and journalists. He criticized double standards that allow Israel to evade accountability and insisted that international law must be applied equally to all nations.

Reaffirming the Maldives’ solidarity with the government and people of Qatar, President Muizzu said no nation in the Islamic Ummah should face aggression alone. He urged that Israeli leaders be held accountable for war crimes through coordinated political, economic, and diplomatic measures, while also calling for immediate humanitarian assistance to Gaza and the West Bank.

“Words alone cannot stop bombs or rebuild shattered lives,” President Muizzu said, stressing that the international community must choose between law and lawlessness, justice and injustice, peace and terror.

The President’s remarks underscore the Maldives’ longstanding commitment to defending human dignity, justice, and the right to live free from oppression and occupation.

President Muizzu is in Qatar for the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, convened in response to the Israeli attack on Doha on 9 September. The summit gathers leaders from member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to call for an end to Israel’s ongoing atrocities and to press for decisive international action to restore peace and stability in the region.
