A decade-old forensic report on former Vice President Ahmed Adheeb’s mobile phone, widely known as the #AdheebFiles, has resurfaced on Maldivian social media, sparking intense public debate.

The 2,900+ page document, which includes chat logs, contacts, calendar entries, and photos, was originally compiled as part of an investigation into Adheeb’s activities. Parts of the report were previously referenced by Al Jazeera in its Stealing Paradise documentary. However, the full report was never made public and had circulated only within political circles—until now.

The report was published in full on X by Jurban Shareef, quickly making #AdheebFiles the top trending hashtag in the Maldives over the past two days.

Contents of the report allege widespread corruption, death threats, spying, and sexual misconduct. It also contains references to major national scandals, including the 2012 murder of MP Dr. Afrasheem Ali and the 2014 abduction of journalist Ahmed Rilwan.

The files implicate a wide range of individuals, including ministers, parliamentarians, journalists, and close associates of the former vice president. Observers note that the renewed circulation of the report may have significant political repercussions, as it includes sensitive details that were previously used to pressure and blackmail implicated individuals.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the release of the #AdheebFiles.
