Malé, Maldives – 30 September 2025 – Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has appointed AVIAREPS India as its General Sales Agent (GSA) to enhance its market presence across South India.

The appointment was officially announced during a trade and media event hosted by the airline in South India, attended by leading travel partners, tour operators, and media representatives. The event highlighted Maldivian’s growing focus on the Indian market and its plans to deepen collaboration with industry stakeholders.

India remains one of Maldivian’s key source markets, with 85,306 Indian visitors recorded until August 2025 — a 4.7 percent increase compared to last year. India is currently the sixth largest contributor to tourist arrivals in the Maldives, accounting for 5.7 percent of total visitors.

Maldivian currently operates four weekly flights from Cochin and Trivandrum to Malé, providing strong regional connectivity that links seamlessly with its extensive domestic network — the largest in the Maldives.

“We are greatly encouraged by the growing interest from the Indian market, and today’s event in South India further reaffirmed the importance of this region for us,” said Ibrahim Iyas, Managing Director of Maldivian. “With the support of AVIAREPS, we look forward to building stronger trade partnerships and welcoming even more Indian travellers to discover the unique experiences of the Maldives.”

Through the partnership, Maldivian aims to expand its visibility in South India, strengthen trade relationships, and position itself as the preferred carrier between India and the Maldives.
