Massive Crowd Gathers in Malé to Mark Two Years of President Muizzu’s Administration

Malé, Maldives — Thousands of ruling party supporters filled the Artificial Beach area on Friday night in what is being described as the largest political gathering held in the Maldives in recent history. Supporters from across the country travelled to the capital to show solidarity with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu as his administration marked two years in office.
The rally drew hundreds and thousands of participants, with crowds stretching across the waterfront area. Supporters waved party colours, chanted slogans, and cheered throughout the evening, creating a loud and energetic atmosphere that continued to build as more people joined from different islands.
Addressing the gathering, President Muizzu thanked supporters for their overwhelming turnout and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance. He stressed that no one would be targeted or punished over political differences, adding that the Maldives currently has no political prisoners, and he assured that “there will not be political prisoners during my administration.”
The President also pledged that his government would continue working tirelessly to deliver on its promises, noting that key developmental projects would remain a priority.
Speaking on foreign relations, President Muizzu reiterated that his administration would maintain close ties with all nations except Israel, aligning with the country’s long-standing position.
The unprecedented turnout underscored the scale of support for the ruling party, marking a significant political moment as the administration enters its third year.
