In a moment that blended sport, solidarity, and heartfelt hospitality, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed welcomed the Palestine U-17 football team to a special luncheon at the Hotel Jen Ballroom this afternoon. The gathering offered the young players a warm Maldivian embrace as they continue their training camp ahead of the AFC U-17 Asian Cup qualifiers.

The determined visiting team has been sharpening their game in the Maldives, highlighted by two spirited friendly matches against the Maldivian U-17 side. Those matches carried meaning beyond the pitch: President Dr Muizzu and Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef purchased limited-edition souvenir tickets, with all proceeds donated to the Palestinian Football Association to help rebuild and develop football in the war-torn nation.

Inside the ballroom, the atmosphere was relaxed and lively. Government officials and young Maldivian players mingled with the team, sharing smiles, stories, and a sense of unity that filled the room.

For the Palestinian youngsters, the afternoon was more than a meal—it was a reminder that the world is watching and cheering them on. And for Maldivian football, it underscored how sport continues to bridge nations and lift spirits far beyond the touchline.
